It’s snowing again.
I cannot tell you how SICK! I am of the snow this winter. It’s not magical anymore, it’s not special. It’s crap. And it will NOT stop. It’s been a full on blizzard for days on end and I’m feeling as though my life is starting to mimic “The Shining”.
I know I run the risk of sabotaging my own efforts of getting you all to move here to start our blogging commune when I mention something like this. I try not to ever say anything negative about Boise so as to give the illusion of rainbows and butterflies all the live long days because even though I know none of you will ever move here, I still believe that ALL of you COULD move here, if it not for your complete selfishness. And so the fault lies with you, I wash my hands of this.
Things wouldn’t be SO bad today except that Mike took my van to work. Something that I know to be of a revengeful nature on his part. He probably figured that if he took MY car and left me with his “tobaggon on ice” which he knows I deem a death trap on wheels and therefore refuse to drive, he must have figured that I couldn’t go anywhere and spend money and shop for cute things or make impulsive decisions in a shopping mall pet store. Which, I see his logic, somewhat. He DID, I guess, leave for work 2 days ago and upon return, discovered a new puppy in our house. But GEEZ, what’s the big deal?! You know? Take my car away? A bit harsh, I’d say. All in agreement, say aye. I know, right?
It’s just that Delaney and I needed to do some birthday present shopping and we ended up at the mall. EVERYONE knows that when at the mall with a kid, it’s pretty much required of you that you take the kid to the pet store. It’s an unwritten law, you MUST DO IT. So, fearing the consequences of disrupting the alter-sphere-of-parenting-law-bondage (just go with it), we indeed went to the pet store. Upon which, we bought a dog. But the decision was made entirely by Delaney, I told Mike this, it had nothing to do with me! I turned my back for ONE second and when I turned back around, Delaney was just finishing up the paperwork. It was done. I had no choice but to bring the dog home after that.
Meet Annie.

She’s a Lhasa Apso, 4 months old and was discounted at the pet store because she had been there too long. Which made us want her even more.
So far, she’s been scared of every single thing, tip-toes around our house and shakes. But this morning, a sign of life! She wagged her tail! And all day today, she’s been following Delaney around and dare I say it, pouncing? She almost comfortable enough to behave like a real puppy but not quite yet. The absence of barking is awesome though, which I guess is the perk of having a scaredy-dog.

Delaney is smitten. Her life from now on will be marked from THIS POINT. Just as we have B.C. and A.D., Delaney now has “before Annie” and “after Annie”.
And I now have a full day of a wild child and a peeing dog. Oh and the blizzard.

Oooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! She is So SO SO cute. It almost makes me forget how I detest pets. Or anything else that sheds and needs to be fed. (Except for Hubs, but I’m legally bound to him. Besides, he brings home the bacon and lets me buy cute handbags. But I digress.) But I’m so happy for you and Annie! And can I please have some of your snow? Selfish girl, save some for me!

Am I the only one that’s noticed that you seem to have an affinity for helpless creatures? I think I’d be afraid to give you a vehicle or a credit card, for that matter!
But she is darling. I want a doggy sooooo bad but the warden, er, husband doesn’t take kindly to things that pee on the floor.

yeah, i gotta say, you are not motivating me to pull up stakes and move to Boise at this moment.
however, i am ALL ABOUT the dogs, and you, my friend, have a very cute one.
Just please, in the name of all that is holy, please don’t let Annie become one of those little nightmare dogs that never get any training because they are CUTE! and LITTLE! and as a result they jump on people, and pee where they are not supposed to and bark and yip incessantly and give all small dogs a bad name. (Not that anyone in my family has one of those - or TWO.)
She really is adorable, and Delaney looks super happy.

Annie is just adorable - you were forced to bring her home, that much is just plain fact!
Congratulations!!!! She will be a wonderful distraction for you - puppies always are! I miss having one. Our guy is a year and a half and we even discussed getting another one last week!
Adoption does strange things to mommies - to - be. We cut our hair, change our hair color, get new pets, get new vehicles, buy new homes, and the list goes on!!! Oh yaeh, and change jobs.
I know that nothing above pertains to YOU, but perhaps to some of the other adoption blog moms!

Who do you think you are complaining about snow?? I would LOVE to have some. In fact, tomorrow is our first chance at snow and I refuse to get my hopes up for fear of disappointment. Quit complaining about the *amn snow and start enjoying it for me. Aren’t you just filled w/complete peace watching the big snowflakes touch down. Ahh… me miss the snow so much. Boise is definitely more appealing to me thanks to your latest post.
The dog will definitely be a great distraction for you and D while waiting for you new ones. She is adorable I must say. I’m scared to tackle a dog with what lies ahead for us. Are you crazy? 3 kids and a dog? LOL. Enjoy Annie and hopefull you and Delaney aren’t in too much trouble with Mike
Okay, I wrote a book. Later!

And my husband was annoyed I came home with a beta fish the other day! He would’ve flipped if I came home with a dog.
I must say, when we were in process for both of our adoptions, we purchased several fish (and fish tanks) 2 cats and 2 bunnies. Good thing we aren’t adopting again… we couldn’t handle any more animals!

What a cute puppy (and kid)! I had a dog named Annie when I was a kid.

And that’s how it all began. Just one little child and one little puppy and then we were six and six respectively. Your love for children and helpless animals is a very dangerous combination for your carpet!
Love Annie. She is so cute! Congratulations Delaney! One small step…

Congratulations on Annie, she is adorable! I can understand how you would be forced to bring her home, I myself try to stay away from pet stores for that very reason. Wow, its already a big year for you — new Fugees, new house, new dog…WOOHOO! :-)You’re on a roll!

Aaawwwwwww. If I didn’t have two giant dogs who are not that into puppies or little dogs, I would be tempted to follow in your footsteps. All I can think of is the movie “Annie” (not the play, the movie based on the play) when she gets adopted by Mr. Clean and the pretty secretary lady, and they go around singing “We got Annie!” Congrats.

Ok Jamie… I am right there with you on the “I am so over the snow” feelings. So, how about this compromise- we all move to Florida!
In other news- We rented a mini-van just like yours this past weekend! It rocked! Nate even wanted us to pose like Tawnie Kataen from that White Snake video, but we were too busy with all of the adorable little munchkins to do it.
Feel free to get a mental image in you head of the pictures though, cause we would certainly have sent yall copies!
Congrats on Miss Annie! I can already tell that she and Delaney will be best friends.

So happy to see a picture of Annie– how could you NOT bring her home? Eventually the peeing will stop or you will just become so over the moon with her that you won’t care as much:)

That Annie is probably the cutest little puppy I’ve seen in my life. CUTEST!

I have been trying to talk myself out of getting a puppy. You are not helping!
January 31st, 2008 at 9:57 pm, Renee in Seattle Says:
Oh, I hear you on the snow. There is much wailing and gnashing-of-teeth from the Cascade Mountains east through Idaho about the feet and feet and feet of snow that keeps dumping on everyone. Must be claustraphobic. Still want to move to Boise, though. On Monday we got two inches and the entire Puget Sound region had a collective heart attack and ran around screaming and waving their hands in the air. We would all drop dead if we experienced real snow.

Will the cold ever stop?
Seriously the Jan. blaghs are enough to make me want to cry - good thing it is Mardi Gras this weekend in the STL so I can drown my blahs in a hurricane. But seriously - stop being so funny - before my jelousy turns me into something horrible like Elphaba from Wicked - If you dont know what I am talking about google it and you will get the jist.
PS - Now that I am not working like a maniac all I want to do is spend my husbands money all day long - its a serious problem!!!

What about sledding! and skiing! snowmobiles and snow tubing! No? Well- we would like some of that snow your having-love, love, love the snow!
Hopefully Annie will be a wonderful companion for Delaney. My daughter Kiana and her little dog Bella are totally bestest friends- sleeping together, running, bike riding and doing homework. Actually the dog has some seperation anxiety issues when Kiana is not around…not that that is good. Your daughter will especially love Annie when she gains two siblings and has to share her mom and dad. Annie will be her own private cuddle bug. Consider a leash and collar for Annie and attach it to your waist, or Delaney’s waist (as long as she doesnt pull her too hard). The dog will get use to being a constant companion by your/her side.
Now quick, before you do anything else- bring Annie to a great vet to get totally checked out while still “under warrenty” from the pet store. A huge majority of puppy mill dogs have health problems of some sort or another and should Annie have any issues the pet store will be obligated to help pay. As much as I advocate for shelter dogs I do understand the heart string pulling of a cute face.

Jaime, we did the same thing with our first doggie!!!! Exactly. He was discounted because he had been there so long
He was the GREATEST doggie ever.

Oh. My. Gosh. Is she the absolutely most cutest thing EVER?????? Other than Delaney of course!
Just wanna grab that little baby face and smother it with slobbery kisses. I’ve been a dog Love for WAY too long
Have fun!!! Hopefully she’ll help pass the referral time

I don’t understand what Mike was so upset about. Stealing the van from under your nose was just mean. I mean, that’s the cutest dog I’ve ever seen. Almost.

I want to squish that puppy! Love the name, too. It’s my sister’s name.
We have had NO snow to speak of here, and H. is getting pretty ticked off about it. He even eliminated the word “snow” from our mealtime grace, in which we thank the earth for things like snow and the sun.
“No say snow anymore! Habtam say rain only!”

Who wants to kiss Annie up and love her forever? Who would have brought her right home, too? Have you seen that sad Pedigree commercial with the dog in the shelter? OH! Makes me want to take home every dog on the planet. Which I would do, but then I’d be divorced woman with every dog on the planet.
I would move there if I were allowed to kiss Annie.

Oh the puppy feelings. I was just getting over them and then I see Annie, and that puppy feeling comes back. *sniff sniff*. Pupppyyyy. She is ABSOLUTELY adorable, and she can wear sweaters and jackets and bows in her hair.
Congratulations!
